“I believe my dedication to quality and ability to learn and adapt are my greatest assets to the team. I strive and take pride in creating comprehensive model solutions that are understandable and easily transferable to the client.

How did you begin your journey into actuarial science?
I’ve always had a passion for problem-solving and mathematics and knew I wanted to pursue a career where I would be able to utilize these skills. I studied computer science during my freshman year at the University of Waterloo, but I quickly realized it wasn’t for me; I wasn’t enjoying the material. I remember my parents had brought up actuarial science as a possible career choice requiring a strong mathematical background. After researching, I realized that actuarial science was a great fit for me, so I switched majors and never looked back.

What led you to Actuarial modeling?
Working with numerous actuarial models early in my career allowed me to discover my passion for understanding how models function and developing model solutions. I wanted to do more than provide a value; it was important for me to understand how the value is fundamentally calculated. Working at the forefront of the actuarial models allows me to satisfy this desire.

What’s your background in AXIS?
I was introduced to AXIS as a University of Waterloo co-op student working for a global reinsurance company. I quickly realized the power of the AXIS application and was excited to build model solutions to solve complex actuarial problems. Throughout my career, I’ve been responsible for building models from the ground up, maintaining and enhancing existing valuation models, and most recently developing AXIS modeling solutions for the new IFRS 17 reporting standard.

Why did you join Valani Global?
I joined Valani Global because they’ve built a business focused on problem-solving and building modeling solutions, which is the best part of my job. Working with such a diverse set of well-established and experienced Actuaries is exciting.

Why should clients hire Valani Global?
The Valani family encourages a collaborative work environment that emphasizes growing and developing the skills of all Valani consultants.
