When I started working with AXIS, I realized how much of an impact it could have on the quality and accuracy of the work of Actuaries and on the financial health of life insurers.

How did you begin your journey into actuarial science?
I was looking for a university program that centered around math when a friend of mine suggested Actuarial Science. I had no idea what Actuarial science was but I decided to give it a try. That lucky turn of events was my introduction to a very challenging and satisfying career.

What led you to Actuarial modeling?
After graduating, I worked on several projects that involved various programs and spreadsheets. It became painfully obvious that complex problems were very difficult to solve without the use of good models and that good models were difficult to build. When I started working with AXIS, I realized how much of an impact it could have on the quality and accuracy of the work of Actuaries and on the financial health of life insurers. With AXIS I was able to solve complex problems.

What’s your background in AXIS?
AXIS has really adapted to the work environment of Actuaries and insurance organizations around the world. And it continues to do so by evolving into being an evermore comprehensive and strategic solution that is being offered to our clients.

Why did you join Valani Global?
I had the pleasure of working with many of the Valani Global consultants individually and felt that I could contribute to their team. When I joined Valani, it was a great opportunity for me to apply my skills and help companies achieve their goals.

Why should clients hire Valani Global?
Clients should hire Valani Global because of our wide range of skillsets and our commitment to quality. Our team is experienced and has a deep knowledge of AXIS, Risk Integrity, IFRS 17 and Long Duration Targeted Improvements (LDTI). I’m confident in our team’s ability to meet and exceed clients’ expectations.

What skillset do you bring to the Valani team?
I believe my greatest skill set is my work ethic. I’m a problem solver and I’m committed to making sure goals are delivered.

How are you involved in the actuarial community?
In 2020, I volunteered on the Pandemic Modeling team with the Canadian Institute of Actuaries. We studied the coronavirus pandemic in Canada and released a paper with our projections. In addition to that, I volunteered as an exam writer, tester, grader, and proctor with the Society of Actuaries. Giving back is rewarding for me because I care about the future of our profession. I believe that continuous improvement and adaptation are needed to stay relevant in the changing world.
