Working on regulatory changes and transformation projects had given me the opportunity to turn complex problems into simple, logical solutions that our clients can implement.

I’ve been using AXIS for seven years now to address a variety of different business needs. I’ve worked with companies from startup operations to large multinational firms across North America and the Caribbean. How did you begin your journey into actuarial science?
I discovered the joy of problem-solving in grade eleven math class. I still remember my teacher’s name, Miss Wilson but I did not know how to transfer that passion into a career. In my freshman year at University of Waterloo, while studying accounting, I also took a variety of math courses. It was those courses that introduced me to Actuarial Science. I had found what I really wanted to do.

What led you to Actuarial modeling?
After graduation, I worked in valuation and then moved into a pricing role. Then I took an actuarial modeling job working in an AXIS conversion project. I really enjoyed the process of building models because it gives me an opportunity to be more creative. It was very rewarding to see how the company was benefiting from the data and valuation system we built.
